Wastewater Management

Water treatment, often known as sewage treatment, is the process of removing contaminants from wastewater or sewage before it reaches aquifers or natural bodies of water such as rivers, lakes, estuaries, and seas.

DICE facilities employ sophisticated ecologies that have the appearance and feel of botanical gardens. There are 5-6 m deep reactors teeming with life under the walking surface. The organisms in the reactors devour the pollutants in the wastewater, resulting in high-quality reusable water. Depending on the local needs, the reactors are arranged in a cascade form, with pretreatment stages at the beginning and final polishing at the conclusion.

Different ecologies will evolve in each reactor as water flows from one to the other. As a result, the sub-ecosystems improve removal efficiency while using less energy and creating less sludge. The complicated biology is handled by clever process control software, which governs all engineering components required to keep the system operating at peak efficiency.

Bacteria and higher species dwell in the reactors’ fixed medium in an attached form. Providing a stable environment allows a diversified and robust biofilm to develop and thrive, resulting in greatly increased nutrient removal, energy efficiency, and resilience in a fraction of the space required by traditional methods.

This state-of-the-art approach is intended to improve the natural processes of complex ecosystems by generating biological diversity far greater than that already in use in the industry. DICE facilities are home to approximately 3,000 species of microorganisms, aquatic flora, and fauna, in addition to the bacteria present in standard activated sludge systems.
